#4 Lights-Camera-30 Countdown #4 Dream Wife We’ve reached #4 in the countdown of my 30-favorite songs of 2018 and that brings-us to punk rock & pop band, Dream Wife. When the year began these three young women had moved from playing parties to opening for The Vaccines, Sunflower Bean, The Kills, and Garbage. By the second half of 2018 they were headlining their own shows. I saw them live in Cambridge last Spring and I was blown-away. Their self-titled debut LP came out in

#8 Lights-Camera-30 Countdown #8 Tash Sultana One of my favorite artists that I discovered for the first time this year is Tash Sultana. This 23-year-old one woman band from Melbourne, Australia received a guitar from her grandfather at age-3 and started teaching herself how to play. Today she can play over 20 different instruments including guitar, bass, trumpet, flute. trombone, and saxophone. Sultana got started busking (street musician) in the streets of Melbourne and pl

#12 Lights-Camera-30 Countdown #12 Lo Moon Sometimes a new artist arrives on the scene with one song. It's actually becoming more and more common these days to see one single released via YouTube, or SoundCloud, or Bandcamp and it takes a bit to see who likes it and what may be coming next. Such is the case with today's band Lo Moon. This trio out of Los Angeles first appeared on the radar two years ago with an epic slow-burning track entitled "Loveless." Eight months late

#15 Lights-Camera-30 Countdown #15 Tunng I had mentioned a couple days ago when talking about Laura Marling & Mike Lindsay's LUMP collaboration ("Rolling Thunder" was #17 in the countdown,) that Mike Lindsay's band Tunng was lurking nearby. Well here they are! Tunng is a six-piece collective out of London founded by Lindsay and Sam Genders in 2003. They specialize in a fusion of folk and electronica known as "folktronica." "Songs You Make at Night" is their sixth album. I

#16 Hi it’s Kristen back with today’s selection for Lights, Camera, Music! Here’s today's photo selection... An aerial shot I took of Essex Bay from over Crane Beach in Ipswich, Massachusetts on a bright chilly morning in February. There are times when Winter can be as beautiful as it is brutal! Lights-Camera-30 Countdown #16 Bob Moses We’ve reached #16 in the countdown of my Top-30 favorite NEW songs of 2018. That spot goes to Bob Moses. Bob Moses in this case is the band-

#17 Ask someone these days, where they get their music from and you're likely to hear a great many answers. This year I added a Spotify subscription to my list of internet radio stations, websites, and other tools that I use to discover, organize, and share new music. What I found is that Spotify is great for organizing music I like into playlists and sharing it. On the downside, Spotify's predictive algorithm had a very tough time figuring-out what I'd like next. #26 Hello and welcome back to Lights, Camera, Music! As we countdown the days to 2019 in photos and music I'm reminded of a conversation I've had with my pilot, Chris. For all the spectacular sights we see in the helicopter, whether it's a breathtaking sunrise or a ragged storm-front cutting a menacing silhouette against a hazy August sky or the sight of all the tree tops glistening with snow on the morning after a blizzard, there is NO photo that will ever truly capture the

    Welcome to Lights, Camera, Music!

#30 Hello and welcome to Lights, Camera, Music! We're in the home-stretch of 2018 and as we plunge-into the frenzy & festivity of the holidays, it's also a time to reflect back on the last 11-months and what they've meant to us. I have much to share about this past year with you and I think you're really going to enjoy this feature. Each day over the coming month, I'll post one of my favorite photos from the past year. Here is my first submission: An aerial shot of Carson

    DAY-5: The 31-Days of Halloween

Hello and welcome to Friday! As we move forward through the month you may recognize a number of the songs I add to the Halloween playlist, but a few others may be a bit obscure. There's a good chance those are tunes I either ran into in college radio at WKKL in West Barnstable, MA or in my many hours spent these days listening to internet radio-stations and then branching-out on my own. Today's song selection comes from my early WKKL days. Los Angeles punk rock band, The Di
