Kristen Eck's 2019 30/30 Countdown: #24
Updated: Dec 10, 2019
Welcome to #24 on the 2019 30/30 Countdown. Dropping-in on the Favorite-30 is German artist Sascha Ring, who goes by the performance-name of Apparat. His brand of
I-D-M (or Intelligent Dance Music) has drifted from techno toward a more ambient sound in recent years.
“LP5” is the newest album from Apparat. I shared the tune “Dawan” with you back in May on Knock Knock: New Music. Let’s have a listen to another great track entitled, “Caronte.”
It was 25-years ago that two brothers and their band changed the face of rock music with their debut album. That band was Oasis and that record, “Defintely Maybe” helped launch the Brit Pop genre, Britain’s answer to the American Grunge scene. While Blur, Pulp, and Suede were also a huge part of Brit Pop across-the-pond, Oasis was the one that struck a chord with American audiences, as the album went Platinum here in the United States.

Back in England even the notoriously cranky music critics at NME and Melody Maker loved the album. Let’s cue-up “Supersonic.” It’s #24 on the Anniversary-30 Countdown. Happy listening!
