Thank you to everyone who tuned-into the 4/30/2021 edition of BumbleBee Brunch. We heard a ton of great new music from Wolf Alice, Half Waif, The Chemical Brothers, and Piroshka along with Boston area artists Violet Nox, Sunshine Riot, Dutch Tulips, Aquagie, If We Go At All, Honest Mechanik, and Airport.
It was right near the end of March when the musical duo Little Fuss just seemed to appear out of nowhere with an infectious debut single entitled "Watch Out." The song has been in Heavy Rotation on BumbleBee Radio ever since, while appearing on multiple other Boston stations and dominating Anngelle Wood's Songs Of The Week music countdown on Boston Emissions.
Vocalist Olivia Martinez and multi-instrumentalist Cody Von Lehmden met by chance while studying abroad in Spain and bonded over a common love of cheap wine and creating art of all forms. They had to leave Spain as the pandemic spread through Europe and are now based in Boston. They are set to make their LIVE debut on Friday May 14th along with Paper Tigers on the ONCE Somerville Virtual Venue... Click HERE for more info and tickets.
If that wasn't exciting enough, we have also learned that Little Fuss have recorded a four-song debut EP, which I can't wait to learn more about. In the meantime they have released their second single, "Human Of The Century," which is now available on Bandcamp, Amazon, and all your favorite streaming services!
Los Angeles indie-rock trio The Rare Occasions started-off making music in Boston. Vocalist Brian McLaughlin and drummer Luke Imbusch have been playing together since they were teens. While attending college in Boston, they met bassist Jeremy Cohen and formed The Rare Occasions. Our friend Michael Marotta over at Vanyaland had this to say about them: “They’re the kind of band that creates music that both slaps you and kisses you, sometimes within seconds of one another, with equal seduction and genuine ease.”
"Big Whoop" is the forthcoming full-length LP, due out on June 18th. The album was reorded and mixed entirely in the band's cramped rehearsal space due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Check-out/download their fantastic single from the album, "Stay" over on their Bandcamp page or your favorite streaming service.
There is also a pretty cool music video for "Stay." I am absolutely looking forward to hearing the new album!
