Thank you to everyone who tuned into the Friday 2/26/2021 edition of BumbleBee Brunch. We heard some great Boston area music from Tequila Sirens and The Tear Downs, a visit to Vermont with Holly Brewer, and a British invasion with new tunes from London's Wolf Alice, Anushka, and Iraina Mancini along with Brighton (England) artist Fable.
Marlboro, Massachusetts trio Circus Trees landed on BumbleBee Radio last Summer with the epic track "Wasted Air" from their debut full-length LP, "Delusions." They play an online music event along with Worcester band, Dearbones Saturday 2/27/2021 at ONCE Somerville's Virtual Venue. I'll be hosting a Q & A session with both bands on Zoom after their performances. Tickets are free to watch the show on YouTube, but a donation (which goes toward helping ONCE Nightclub find a new physical home, when the madness of this pandemic subsides) gets you into the Zoom room to meet the bands! Click HERE for more info.
Circus Trees also have a new single! In speaking to Fin, Giuls, and Edmee ahead of the show, I found out that Memphis singer/songwriter Julien Baker (who was just added to BumbleBee Radio last week,) was a huge influence in inspiring them to form a band. As fate would have it, their new single is a cover of a Julien Baker track. "Go Home" is available on streaming services and now in Heavy-Rotation right here on BumbleBee Radio!
We also heard from six-piece Needham, Massachusetts band The Tapples. While all of them are still in middle school, you wouldn't know it by listening. They know what they're doing and already have a debut LP under their belt along with a television interview with Katie Thompson on WCVB TV-5 for a Christmas song they released back in December.
"Where You've Been" is the second album from The Tapples. Recorded at Woolly Mammoth Sound in Waltham and released on 1/15/2021 you can listen to /grab a copy over on their Bandcamp page or click HERE for other options! Their song "Cabana Boy" has been added to Heavy-Rotation here on BumbleBee Radio!
Speaking of ONCE Somerville, another big show is on the way Friday March 5th with the record release party for Boston band Linnea's Garden! "Nowhere Friday Nights" is their debut EP via Red on Red Records and the list of Boston area artists joining the virtual party is impressive including Corner Soul, Hyber, Carissa Johnson, The Jacklights, The Chelsea Curve, Senseless Optimism, Ex-Hyena, and many others. This is a must-see event I'd say! More info and tickets HERE.
The great tunes from the forthcoming EP just keep coming as well... We played the latest single "Science And You" for the first time Friday morning... Making guacamole and running around naked... What more is there in life?
