BumbleBee Brunch Playlist: 1/15/2021

Thank you to everyone who tuned-into the Friday 1/15/2021edition of BumbleBee Brunch LIVE. The year is still very young, but I am encouraged and excited about the new songs that are appearing and the albums that are on the way.

Boston area artist Kristian Montgomery & The Winterkill Band have a knack for making country music accessible to folks who don't normally listen to country music (hand raised over here.) Perhaps part of is the fact that there are other genres like Roots Rock and Americana swirling around in the mix (Google identifies them as Alternative Country...) Maybe it's the reference to the Red Sox taking down the Yankees in his song "Boston" (baseball references are always a good way to get my attention.) Whatever the case, the track "5 Horses" from their 2020 debut LP "The Gravel Church" was a Top-10 finisher in my Favorite-50 of 2020 show on New Year's Day.

A NEW album entitled "Prince Of Poverty" is due for a release on March 5th, 2021. I have an advance copy of the LP and I can report that it is very impressive! From "Prince Of Poverty" we debuted the song "Soul For Soul," which is already one of my favorite tunes of 2021!

We debuted a new track from the forthcoming GarageDogs album "Beyond Good And Evil." Billy Hough told me on Friday they're hoping for a March release for the full LP. The first single "American Dream" finished in the Top-5 of the BumbleBee Radio Favorite-50 of 2020. The second single, "Television" also has a very clever (and kinda creepy) black & white music video shot by Christopher Wilcox and directed by Matt Hough in Provincetown. Check-it out HERE!

Boston electronic duo Ex-Hyena (Bo Barringer and Reuben Bettsak) will release their debut LP, "Artificial Pulse" on February 19th, 2021. We played the first two singles from the LP: "Shades" and "Instant Fires" heavily on BumbleBee Radio with the latter making the Favorite-50 show for 2020. Friday's show saw the first airplay for the third single, "Motorfreaks," which will be released to the interwebs on Friday 1/22/2021. Thank you Bo & Reuben for the advance copy of the song! If you're reading this on Saturday 1/16, and are looking for some virtual music fun, Ex-Hyena will be part of "Underground Sounds From Across The Atlantic" on Saturday 1/16 at 5:00 PM EST. It's a big virtual show featuring Boston and British electronic & experimental artists, rap artists, DJ's, and more. Other Boston area performers in the Saturday lineup include Andre Obin, Violet Nox, Casey Desmond, and Brandie Blaze among others. Here is the LINK for the YouTube LIVE FEED for the show!
