Knock Knock: New Music! 3/5/2019

Is Spring near? It's hard to tell here in New England where we just had another foot of snow dumped on us. I placed my order for flower and vegetable seeds for the upcoming growing season yesterday and have been hunkering-down with my Gerber Daisy, waiting for all this snow to melt.

In the meantime, I have something really fun to share with you today from Squid. They’re a five-piece band originally from Brighton, England. They hang out now in London.

Taking inspiration from ambient music, post-rock and Brian Eno they started off creating spacey electronic music with elements of jazz. But things have taken a turn in another direction toward post-punk.

Squid has released one EP and three singles. This newest song is frenzied, furious, and deliciously odd. It’s like being in an out-of-control car driven by a crazed-Muppet that’s about to go flying off of a cliff and I absolutely love it!

You can catch them live at SXSW in Austin, Texas on March 14th, but hopefully we’ll get some more chances to see them play this tune here in America at some point. It’s called "Houseplants" and it’s waiting for you now on the Knock Knock: New Music playlist. Happy listening! -Kristen
