Happy Friday! We have some Wintry weather to adventure-thru here in New England this weekend, but we'll get through it. Hopefully listening to some new music might help make it more enjoyable for you!
Today’s song comes from a six-piece London band called Stats. Last year I shared their single “Rhythm of the Heart” which featured a video of a bar owner (from one the band's regular haunts) doing an improv-dance routine after closing time. Now we have word that Stats has a full-length album on the way… “Other People’s Lives” drops on February 15th.
Featuring a blend of electro-pop and electro-funk, the record's 11-tracks were conceived when all six band members (including two keyboardists) packed-themselves-into a recording studio and jammed together over two days. They wanted to begin from a space free of structure and see what unfolded.
From the songs I’ve heard so far, I think they’ve captured something special. Singer Ed Seed’s vocals and style have reminded some of Talking Heads and the Pet Shop Boys and I would agree. Backing vocals & keyboards from Isobel Waller-Bridge and Nicole Robinson add a new-wave edge to the sound. “Lose It” is the latest single from the forthcoming album from Stats and it’s waiting for you now on the Knock Knock: New Music playlist. Happy listening! -Kristen
