#5
Wow, does time fly! It seems like yesterday, when I started these two musical countdowns and photo postings back on December 1st and here we are at the Top-5! Who will end-up #1 by the time we reach New Year's Eve on Monday? Hmmmm...

#5 The London Suede
One of the "big four" Brit-Pop bands of the 1990's (Oasis, Blur, and Pulp were the other three,) Suede never really gained any traction here in the United States and were actually forced to change their name to London Suede here in America after Cape Cod singer, Suzanne deBronkart (who also goes by Suede) sued-them over the matter. Of the "big four" Brit-Pop bands, The London Suede was more experimental and alternative rock-oriented than its contemporaries. They also had a number of internal-struggles that eventually led to a seven year absence before the band reunited in 2010. "The Blue Hour" is their eighth studio album. It dropped in September and I'm going with the third track to be released from the record. The music video (featured on the YouTube version of my playlist) features footage of the abandoned Ukrainian city of Pripyat, which had been at ground-zero for the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster. It's called "Life is Golden" and it's #5 on the Lights-Camera-30 Countdown.
Camera: Photo #5
Today's photo selection is a shot taken over Route 128 in Danvers looking down toward Beverly, Massachusetts in the moments before sunrise this past November. This is one of the first sights that sometimes greats us just after taking-off from Beverly Airport in the morning!
#5 Talking Heads
New York City post-punk new wave band, Talking Heads had just dumped producer Brian Eno as they started working on their fifth studio album. Released in June of 1983, "Speaking in Tongues," became their commercial breakthrough as it went double-platinum and peaked at #15 on the American album charts.

The single, "Burning Down the House" made it to #9 on the singles chart. However, there was another single on the album... It only reached #62, but it became one of my favorite Talking Heads songs. It's called "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody,)" and it's waiting for you now on the Anniversary-30 playlist. Happy listening! -Kristen
