Happy Friday! I'm always happy when we reach the end of the work week, but I am especially happy as this week comes to a close. On Wednesday of this week, I received a phone call informing me that my gender-affirmation surgery has been scheduled for September of 2019! This has been a lifetime in the making, so I am beyond ecstatic
In other news, I did decide on my official Halloween costume for this year... You will see it for sure at some point during the 31-Days of Halloween. I know exactly when, but I'm keeping it a secret until then!
With that said, I'm in the mood for something upbeat & celebratory for the Halloween playlist as we get ready to kick-off the weekend. For that we'll travel back in time to the 1989 television series, "Tales from the Crypt."
This series ran on HBO from 1989 to 1996 and featured short horror stories taken from a run of comic books from the 1950's that went by the same name. Each episode was hosted by the creepy skeletal-character, The Crypt Keeper.
Actor John Kassir, who boasts a massive list of credits for voice-over work in film, television, and video games was the voice of the Crypt Keeper puppet that ran the show. John will celebrate his 61st birthday later this month on October 24th.
In October of 1992, an official soundtrack album for the TV show was released featuring the show's theme music (composed by Oingo Boingo's Danny Elfman) and a fun dance track written & performed by Chuckii Booker with vocals by John Kassir. That song is called
"The Crypt Jam" and it's your Friday entry on the 31-Days of Halloween playlist. Happy listening! -Kristen
