Good morning and welcome to Day-Nine of the 31-Days of Halloween! Want to see something frightening? Have a look at this:
That is a Dunkin Donuts Pumpkin Spice muffin. I'm usually good for one pumpkin spice coffee and one pumpkin spice muffin per Autumn (though I do make my own pumpkin bread,) and that's likely a good thing. That one little muffin contains 550-calories and 24-grams of fat! Yikes! It did taste good, though.
Happy Birthday to cartoonist, Russell Myers. He's the creator of Broom Hilda and he turns 80 today!
Something else is 80-years old this year and it was one of my favorite candy bars in my childhood: Necco's Sky Bar! It had not one but FOUR different fillings in one candy bar. If I got one of these out trick-or-treating it was like being handed gold.
Following the closure of Necco's plant in Revere, Massachusetts earlier this year, it was sold to another candy company, but as of now there are no plans to resume making the Sky Bar. If you really want one you can still buy them in-bulk on Amazon. A case of 24 candy bars will set you back about $58.
So on to today's musical selection... It has nothing to do with candy bars, Broom Hilda, or pumpkin spice muffins. Sometimes I just don't have a tie-in. Today's track comes to us from Queens of the Stone Age. From their fantastic 2013 album, "Like Clockwork," I have chosen "The Vampyre Of Time And Memory." for the 31-Days of Halloween playlist. Happy listening!
